The BNE offers a bibliographic collection valuation service, aimed exclusively at public institutions, and for guidance purposes.

This valuation service is included in the Resolution of 22 March 2022, at the National Library of Spain for the approval to the public fees applicable to the services provided by the agency (annex III).

The BNE does valuation to individuals.

What can we apply?

As a public institution, can be requested from the assessment of:

• Modern monographs and serials modern (since 1831).
• Old monographs (since 1501 until 1830).
• Old serials (until 1830).
• Incunabula.
• Modern manuscripts (from 1801).
• Ancient manuscripts (to 1800).
• Joint or documentary collections.

Bibliographydoes not carry out assessmentsof drawings, engravings, photographs, maps, scores, audio-visual or records.

If the evaluation or assessment requested to submit special characteristics that substantially upset the cost of the consideration, its price would be established by the budget, which shall conform to the production costs, and to give prior notice to the person concerned for your approval.

Discounts may be established (maximum of five per cent) from a certain number of pieces in the same request (15 pieces), but that do not form a set documentary.

The assessments will always advisory in nature, and in no case could result in binding legal effect for third parties.

The application must include as much data as possible for the identification of works, as well as identifying information of the requesting institution (contact person, CIF/VAT, postal address and telephone).

Initial budget proposal

The time limit for the delivery of the budget is of 15 calendar days after receiving the request, but the deadline for this service will be reported until the BNE did not have sufficient data to identify correctly both the applicant and the work or works of requesting an assessment

Once the amount paid, the applicant will receive an email confirmation of the payment received and the evaluation of documents.

The payment could only be made by bank transfer, direct income in the bank account to facilitate the Bibliography.

The cancellation of the request made by the entity required the payment of the public, within seven calendar days after the deposit that price, it should entail the loss of the amount paid.

The budget will be valid for 1 year, except for amendment of the public fees.

Delivery of valuation

The BNE's valuation within 30 calendar days for spare parts, from the payment confirmation, and up to 60 calendar days in cases of joint or documentary collections, for the same manner provided in the form.
